Neroli Oud by Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger

Today I’m sampling Neroli Oud by Au Pays de la Fleur d’oranger. With dominant notes of neroli, jasmine and oud. I’ve discussed many times with a friend about how we’d love to try a fresh take on an oud fragrance. Well imagine our delight when we came across Neroli Oud, our prayers answered. At this point my friend has yet to try it, due to our three way sample swap along with a third friend. So what’s my take? Well the opening was a massive blast of neroli and jasmine, very perfumey and feminine. A few minutes in and the oud came to play, could it save the day? No! This mixture of notes really didn’t work for me. I’m well into the dry down now, and things have improved. It’s now very much a subtle scent, staying closer to the skin. The oud note seems to have vanished though, I’m just getting the neroli and jasmine. I should have known better when I saw jasmine in the notes. Some florals I can wear and pull off as masculine, but there’s no way with jasmine and my skin. It never fails to make me feel uncomfortable when wearing it.
