Neroli Voyage by Floris

Spring has recently sprung here in the UK, however, Neroli Voyage has reminded that Summer is fast on its way. We’re all familiar with Neroli fragrances, they’re fresh, they’re invigorating, but they can also be guilty of being linear, lacking a scent journey.

Neroli fragrances remind me satorial elegance of days gone by, and the smell of days gone by is something I yearn for. Floris embrace their history, they’ve created impeccable fragrances since 1730. The art form is retaining that heritage, whilst creating fragrances that appeal to a modern nose.

Neroli Voyage was inspired by journals written by Robert Floris, written during his travels in the early 19th century. Robert sourced ingredients throughout the Mediterranean. Orange blossom trees in the south of France set the stage for the journey ahead.

A vibrant citrus marine fragrance reflecting a journey of discovery across the Ligurian sea.

The finer details of Neroli Voyage

Neroli Voyage opens with an invigorating combination of neroli, lemon and marine notes. Ignore the rain outside, as you’re immediately transported to the Mediterranean coastline. The lemon note is sharp, but it’s been tamed by the beautifully smooth neroli note, whilst the marine notes very much do what they say on the tin. Clear blue sea and boats gently floating by, this scent is a relaxing as the mental image it creates.

As the top notes settle, the mid notes of jasmine flower, ginger and fennel seed reveal themselves. Not to forget the ever-present neroli note of course. The jasmine note blends seamlessly with the neroli, enforcing the smooth nature of the scent. However the ginger adds contrast, with a touch of sweet spice, whilst the fennel adds an earthy, herbal quality into the mix. The neroli note is still the star of the show, but the journey continues.

Once we reach the dry down, we’re greeted by the notes of oak wood, amber and musk. By this stage, our journey has delivered us to the Maquis Shrubland in Corsica. The smell of oak wood drifts in the air, dancing with the now buttery smooth neroli note. Amber and musk add warmth and comforting quality to the end of this epic journey.

In terms of performance i got 2-3 hours of projection and 7-8 hours of longevity, excellent on my skin in the spring, and I imagine will perform even better in the summer.

The journey undertaken by Robert Floris was 200 years ago, yet with the power of scent we can follow in his footsteps. Floris have not only created the smell to my summer, they’ve bought a piece of their history back to life.
