Today I’m sampling Journey Man by Amouage. With dominant notes of sichuan pepper, tobacco leaf, incense and juniper berries. I’m a big fan of the house of Amouage, so I was very excited to give this one a try. In the opening I get a huge blast of pepper, it’s very sharp and nose tickling! The pepper remains throughout, but it settles down after around 10 mins. At this point I started to get lots of lovely whiffs of the cardamom and juniper berries, as well as the gorgeous incense I associate with Amouage fragrances. As the fragrance dries down the leather and musk come out to play, whilst the pepper keeps on kicking. I got resemblances to a few fragrances from this one. The cardamom notes reminded me a lot of La Nuit de L’homme during the opening, and then the pepper and citrus notes reminded me a lot of Royal Oud. Of course this is just what my nose got, but I’d say this is one of the more easily accessible scents from Amouage. I have another Amouage lined up to sample soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
