Today I’m wearing Z-14 by Halston. This is a new addition to my collection, and I’ll point out that it’s the current formulation. With dominant notes of cinnamon, oakmoss, lemon, cypress and leather. Now I’ll start by mentioning that I’m a huge fan of Italian Cypress by Tom Ford. I’d heard the rumours of the pre reformulation version of Z-14 and how it was a dead ringer for Italian Cypress. On the flip side I’d heard that the current formulation was a disgrace to the Z-14 name and the fragrance was as good as dead. Well I’ve not tried the pre reformulation so I can’t comment, however after trying the current formulation……I really like it! To me it’s a lighter version of Italian Cypress with more citrus throughout. I’ve been wearing it now for a few hours and I’m very impressed by the performance considering the edc concentration. As far as the oakmoss note goes, it’s there but I’m guessing nowhere near as potent as it used to be. For anyone familiar with the original, this may be a disappointment. However I feel there’s enough to love about this version to give it a try.
