Bulls Blood by Imaginary Authors

Today I’m sampling Bull’s Blood by Imaginary Authors. With notes of patchouli, rose, costus root, musk and tobacco. I had preconceptions about this fragrance before I tried it, and even before I knew the notes. The name alone conjured images of a fragrance that would be challenging and potentially horrible! The house of Imaginary Authors are also well known for making unusual scents. So was I right to worry? I’m afraid so! It opens with a potent blast of patchouli and rose, and it remains forever and a day! I can’t comment on if it smells of bulls blood, although at times I picked up on some anamalic notes in the opening that the bull could well of been responsible for. About an hour in and the scent genuinely reminded me of tomato plants in a greenhouse, not a good thing for me. However if gardening is your thing, then this is the juice for you! Deep into the dry down and it becomes bearable, the scent doesn’t improve to my nose but at least I don’t feel like I’m fumigating the green fly in the greenhouse anymore. So it’s a no from me, however I’m willing not to give up on the house completely. Perhaps next time I’ll study the notes a little first.
