Today I’m sampling Nevermore by Frapin. With dominant notes of rose, aldehydes, saffron and black pepper. This one opened with a really potent pepper and aldehydes scent to my nose, quite overwhelming and unpleasant. However it settled down after a few mins, and completely confused me. Without looking at the notes I thought, ahhhh a boozy one! To my nose it smelled like cognac, but the notes didn’t add up at all. After a further 30 mins it dried down and changed again, more of the florals now shining through with the now very green aldehydes. From the opening I wouldn’t of guessed that I’d like this one, but given time to dry down I’m pleasantly surprised. Not full bottle worthy for me, but well worth a sniff.
